They organized every day of our 15 days which included white water rafting, a city tour of Katmandu, safari in chitwan, mountain flight and trekking. As a middle aged woman I was slightly apprehensive about taking this trip, trekking, whitewater rafting and safari I felt might be too ambitious. The staff at Socialtours are exceptionally knowledgable and professional.  They exceeded every expectation from my initial corespondance with the company all the way through my trek.  Rather than attempt to "sell" a pre-packaged tour they tailored one to my particular interests and capabilities.  The guides and porters they employ are top notch.  Moreover, they were able to solve any problems I encountered with a level of service that is difficult to find at most trekking agencies.  This, along with their dedication to the preservation of Nepal's environmental and cultural beauty should make them the first choice for any prospective traveler.

Friendly and enchanting Tamang peoples; I was the only westerner heading for the Tamang Heritage trail with everyone else heading for the Langtang area. Bathing with the locals and pilgrims in the hot springs at Tatopani was a highlight. Sharing memories of a recent trip to Mt Kailash and sharing Tibetan words and phrases was also very special. I found the area unspoilt by any excesses of infrastructure and tourist activity. It reminded me of my 1983 trek through Helambu. It was enriching indeed to pass through the many Tamang villages, to follow the rythmns of the farming day, to visit a school and many homes offering simple refreshments. The viewpoint for Tibet, Langtang, Gosainkund and more provides the pure mountain inspiration; smiles and spontaneous and generous welcome and curiosity transcend the backbreaking rural poverty and are moving indeed. The haunting beauty and isolation of this region, though, makes you wonder at your own privilege to be a visitor and your own responsibility to value and to enrich this living heritage both during and after the trip.

I really liked being able to pop into the office, and the informal and friendly nature of the people there.  I felt i got a very personal service.  People were very helpful and made things happen. I also really appreciated being taken out for dinner on the first night.
